Google
has announced a new update for its Chrome browser on Wednesday, which
includes several new features, including security fixes for CPU
vulnerabilities Meltdown and Specter. This includes a better solution for Posey Autoplaying Videos on some websites
Standing mute for autoplay video
The most useful update comes with Chrome 64 feature to mute autoplay videos on websites. Most websites come with videos, not autoplay ads but browsing on Chrome 64 will give users the option to mute websites.
This feature can be accessed by clicking on the top of the related website tab and selecting the "Mute Site" option. This will close all the videos set on autoplay by default, report the verge
Google is also addressing the problem of pop-ups appearing on websites. As explained in last November, Google Chrome fixes this problem by displaying an information bar instead of opening the redirect page on a new tab in 64
Popups often open a new page with third party content, but in Chrome 64 the user will be shown an information bar that prevents opening a redirect tab. This will keep the user on their current tab instead of redirecting a new one.
Fix for Meltdown, Specter
In terms of security, Google has released fixes for the latest recession and there are flaws in meltdown and ghost security in ground fault Chrome 64 which affect Intel chips that may affect websites.
Earlier this month, security researchers had detected major security flaws on chipsets from Intel and AMD. These defects, meltdown and spectators can allow sensitive data to be read as password. This defect then creates a process called 'speculative execution' for the computer, which can estimate what the next steps of users can be.
