If you have a pixel, pixel XL or even a Nexus 6 P, then it is likely that you will be very happy with your camera.

 But since Google has released Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the owners of the old pixel phones have felt a sense of jealousy in a spectacular portrait mode that offers new Google phones.

 Now, a third-party app named Camera NX has brought the pixel 2 portrait mode to the original pixel, pixel XL, Nexus 6 P and even the Nexus 5 X.
In all four old phones, the camera - pixel, pixel XL, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X - are very similar.

 Their identical lenses and the same IMX377 / IMX378 image sensors that click 12-megapixel photos. 

 But Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have different image sensors and hardware. However, the camera NX developer has clearly managed to find enough bits in 

the camera software, which enables portrait mode in new pixel 2 phones to create a new camera NX app that works on older Google phones.
The interesting bit is that the camera enabling portrait mode with both NX front and rear cameras. And the results are quite good, 

though we are not sure we have tested the Camera NX on pixel and pixel 2 phones.

 Although there is a lack of a special image sensor in pixels - Pixel 2 has an image sensor with dual-pixel technology that helps in portrait mode - Camera NX has captured quite a good picture photo.

 The edges are well defined, the colors are good, although the level of expansion in low light is not as good as the sharp pixels capture 2 lenses.

Using the front camera in pixels, the results of portrait mode are also quite good, sometimes the camera NX app goes to blur the edges.

 Overall, Pixel does a better job with 2 picture pictures. But then it is expected that there are specialized hardware for this job.  

But considering how good Pixel and Nexus 6P cameras are, it is good to see that they have a feature that was missing from them.
You can download Camera NX from here. This is a free app, though you will not see it on the Google Play store (not sure as per Google's terms and conditions). 

 You have to download an APK and then install it manually. Once installed, it is also called camera, 

although it has a slightly different icon than Google's camera app, as far as the user interface is concerned, Camera NX has the same interface as Google's official camera app.
