The first new stories feature is called Highlights. Its basic things allow you to do, take the stories you have shared and group them into a special post at the top of your profile page.
Highlights will look right under your bio and you will be there till you remove them. What is really good about this feature, is being enabled on a specific program, such as a concert, or specific people alone! Here's how Instagram describes this new feature:
Stories Highlights will enable optimization and self-expression even more than ever - whether you share the best moments with your dog, your recent family vacation, or your best collections
The second feature in the stories is called an archive. This feature is idle and active at all times, so you do not have to do anything special to take advantage of it. When your regular stories end after 24 hours, they will be automatically archived. There is an archive button on your profile that will show you your post archive and allow you to switch to your stories collection.
From there you will be able to view, share or add a highlight directly from your collection. For those who do not want the auto-storage facility, you will be able to turn it off
This news comes after rumors that a "regram" button was being tested. While the archive facility is now available from those trials, there is no news on the status of other facilities, which are being operated.
